Your first batch of maple syrup deserves to be clear. The 1 quart Orlon cone filter from North Star Maple Supply is sized for beginners and small stovetop batches. It is made from dense 16 oz Orlon polyester felt, the same filter material maple producers have trusted for years, and it traps the niter (sugar sand) that makes homemade syrup cloudy and gritty. Set the cone over a clean pot or jar and pour your syrup through while it is hot. The felt is made from FDA food-contact compliant polyester (21 CFR 177.1630), BPA-free, with no intentionally added PFAS. Rinse with hot water only and reuse for many seasons. Made in Missouri, packed in Minnesota.

  • Sized For Beginners And Small Batches: A 1 quart Orlon cone filter (about 9.75 inches long and 14 inches across the top, laid flat) made for stovetop and first-season sugarmakers who finish a quart or two at a time.
  • Professional Orlon Felt: The same dense 16 oz Orlon polyester felt maple producers rely on to remove niter (sugar sand) for clear, clean syrup.
  • Easy To Use: Set the cone in a funnel, strainer, or small rack over a clean pot or jar and pour your syrup through while it is hot (180°F or hotter). Let gravity do the work.
  • Rinse And Reuse For Years: Rinse in hot water only (never soap), press out the water, dry completely, and reuse season after season.
  • Food-Safe And Midwest-Made: Polyester felt made from FDA food-contact compliant materials (21 CFR 177.1630), BPA-free, with no intentionally added PFAS. Made in Missouri, packed by hand in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

How to use: Dampen the filter with hot water and press out the extra. Set it over a clean pot or jar, then pour your syrup through while it is hot (180°F or hotter). Don't squeeze. Let gravity do the work. See our How to Filter Maple Syrup guide.
